Sarah, thanks so much for this comprehensive share. The Innocents are also children living in homes with overwhelmed parents who have no available avenue for assistance. The unseen face lifelong consequences.

Terse, succinct and directly to the point . The plight of the innocents also extends to the endless cycle of hopelessness, which is created when 50% of all sales in our country is derived from 10% of its citizens. The suffering you so exquisitely describe, remains hidden by the four or five corporate conglomerates controlling all public information media, who determines what ‘news,’ is. Every faith believes, treat others, as you would be treated. Thank you for this exposé of who the innocents really are.

In my decade long formal education or educating in the Catholic tradition, I never heard more grounded words in the greatness of the Christian tradition. Thank you for the inspiration and movement of the Spirit!

It means a lot coming from you! Thank you for the kind words. Keep up the good work in your neck of the woods. 🫶

We've got to hang out in 2026. I'll work on finding a reason to come your direction. But you're always welcome to come see us at the farm too.

I’m definitely coming up to the farm!

Isn’t it amazing how much you can say without using the word genocide out of “safety, strategy or necessity”?

Thank you for taking the time to comment! On social media, the only two people who responded to this piece were a Catholic friend recently returned from Palestine and my most atheist friend, who tends to keep distance from faith altogether. Night and day. And to me, that felt like a small but meaningful success.

I exited facebook several years ago. I have known Brian Terrell as a brave peacemaker with skin in the game. I count Brian and many other Catholic Workers as friends.

Any spiritual success is hard won in these dark days on the world of the cross, Sarah.

I was at his house Monday night and laughed out loud when I saw Brian’s face as we began a Christmas carol. It felt almost absurd to move into something so joyful after hearing about his travels. How lucky we are not to have been born anywhere else…and how unlucky we are. Life is strange that way.

Betsy and Brian are incredibly inspiring people. I’m not so radical in my approach because I have a healthy fear of imprisonment.

Please give Brian my regards.

There are worse experiences than imprisonment as a matter of conscience, as Brian might tell you. But child care is a higher calling, imo.
